The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, through a program to support the raising and modernization of productive orchards, provides funds that reduce the investment of producers when establishing productive orchards, which would be highly profitable with regular application of modern agricultural techniques.
«Regular and stable yield of high quality will in the long run increase the volume of processing and enrich the product range, which will achieve a favorable export structure and a higher level of competitiveness,» said the department.
So far, 26 agricultural farms have applied to the public call for support for raising and modernizing / equipping production orchards with a total investment value of 91,269.17 euros and potential support in the amount of 41,172.60 euros.
The support refers, among other things, to the raising of 5.23 ha under various fruit species, as well as the procurement of irrigation systems, support poles for trellis cultivation and the like. As the public call is open until November 1, 2021, in the following period we expect a significantly higher number of requests from agricultural producers, given that autumn fruit planting is predominantly represented in Montenegro.
The wine and viticulture sector is constantly growing. Montenegrin wines are recognized on the world market. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has provided even greater support to further improve competitiveness to enter new markets. When it comes to the development of viticulture and winemaking, 13 agricultural farms have so far applied with a total investment value of 46,313.17 euros and potential support in the amount of 22,404.92 euros.

This program encourages the increase of areas under vines, both by introducing new varieties and preserving indigenous varieties, as well as modernization of existing production plantations of vines that will give high, quality and stable yields with the application of modern agricultural techniques.
